One of the projects we wrote for this year is coming out on Kickstarter on Monday. Steve Jackson Games has announced its upcoming GURPS Pyramid Scheme: three brand new issues of Pyramid Magazine. We have articles in two of the issues. Even more exciting, when they shared the enticing image, it was our article they showed. You can follow the project here to be notified when it goes live on Monday.
We wrote articles for SciFi/Tech (in the stretch goals) and for Modern/Action (part of the base Kickstarter). We are quite proud of both of them. The first, “The Toughest Race in the Solar System,“ describes how to create an adventure race in a near future or far future environment. The second, “Derelicts on Ice” is an adventure in an Arctic ships’ graveyard, like a cold Bermuda Triangle.
Both articles are specifically written for GURPS, but we tried to write them in a way to be useful for other game systems and for writers looking for ideas for stories. The other articles look like they will be a lot of fun to use in campaigns as well, and you can’t beat the price, just $6 for all three magazines. So if you are a gamer and interested, please check out the Kickstarter and consider supporting it.
In other news, I’ve narrowed down my choices and have decided on a novel project to start on Monday. Argosy is something I’ve worked on for a few years, writing short stories within it and generally enjoying it. It originally derived from a pitch we sent John David Payne for the Micronomicon that he passed on, which was fortunate for us since it would have required more work to put it together for him. The one he chose, Thule, was a lot of fun, so no complaints here.
I used the Argosy micro-setting nine times during the 52 Short Stories challenge and even received an Honorable Mention from Writers of the Future for one of them. Each time I returned to Argosy, I enjoyed my sojourn with the residents of that city of ships. Subsequently I worked on a bunch of additional backstory when working on this with a friend. So now this is a fleshed-out universe for me, ready for my next story, which will be a novel this time. The plan is to start the novel promptly Monday morning. Wish me luck!
I hope your life is filled with success and joy today. Be well, friends!
This is all so cool! Can’t wait to read about Argosy!
Thanks! Argosy is an incredibly fun environment: detective fiction in the ancient Mediterranean with magic!
