I passed the 50,000 word mark in the afternoon at the library in the presence of friends. So I won NaNoWriMo. Afterwards my brain declared that it wouldn’t work for the rest of the day. That’s fine. It deserved some time off.
Today I still need to get the short story to Dean by midnight. I also have a Champagne and cake celebration with friends and have promised my husband some ‘us’ time.
My plan is to get the story done this morning and send it out. I’m having some trouble with the experimental POV I’m trying. Also, the combat scene, as usual, is beating my butt. Time to pull out my combat cards and get a handle on the battle. After writing 28 stories in 28 weeks, I no longer fear that I cannot finish a story by midnight. I’m not sure who I’ve become, but whoever I am now, I am apparently driven to write.
Tomorrow it is laundry, cleaning, diet planning, and all the other things I neglected in November. Then I travel to Denver to visit with family. It is a packed week.
Following that week it is more story-writing and figuring out what I submit to the Writers of the Future next. Also editing, prepping for publication and so forth. Lots of work ahead. I’m thrilled.
I hope your NaNoWriMo went well and that you learned something about yourself from it. Thanks for joining me on my journey. May harmony find you.
NaNoWriMo Winner!
