NaNoWriMo 2019 – Day 30

Last day of NaNoWriMo and a tough one for me. Last night I fell asleep mid-sprint and banged my head against my monitor. Unsurprisingly, I’m tired today. I need about 4,300 words to complete NaNoWriMo with a win. That’s a lot of words by midnight tonight.

Fortunately I have a secret weapon: dictation. I use dictation and transcription through Dragon pretty frequently when I’m generating ideas, when I’m stuck in the middle, when I need good dialogue, or when I need to finish something off quickly. I haven’t used it at all for NaNoWriMo which makes November one of the few months I haven’t used it. That changes today. I’ll dictate additional scenes for the story and then clean up the prose.

My earnest hope is that I can win this afternoon with my friends at the Main Library Write-In. If I don’t take the win there, I’ll work until midnight or until I finish 50,000 words.

I hope you have already won or are so close you can taste the celebration cookies. Be well friends!

Good luck today! Loved the part about falling asleep mid-sprint and hitting the monitor. People just don’t understand the risks we writers take πŸ˜‰.

    1. LOL! Indeed they don’t. Writing can be a contact sport. Thanks for the good words.
