NaNoWriMo Day 15

What happened to blog posts for Days 9-14? What can I say, I’ve been busy writing. Yesterday I sent my first short story for the Relationships Collections course to Dean and submitted a newly written piece of microfiction to a contest. I think it’s a pretty good piece for something so short. Last week I completed the first week of Holly Lisle’s novel writing course. So it’s all proceeding quite well.

I’ve made new friends here in Albuquerque. Everyone here is amazingly nice! I don’t know if it’s the culture or the sunshine, but I’m delighted to be finding simpatico people to hang out with.

So many of my writing friends suffer from Imposter Syndrome, so when this article came across my feed from New Scientist Magazine, I knew I had to share. The take-away message is that people with imposter syndrome are just as competent and often moreso than their colleagues who don’t suffer from feelings of inadequacy and are more enjoyable to work with because they try harder on an interpersonal level.

I am reminded of J. Michael Straczynski’s video on Imposter Syndrome. “Every writer that I know, at least every good writer, suffers from imposter syndrome. That’s a necessary part of the process.” He goes on about this. It’s well worth viewing to learn how to enjoy living with it.

On a different topic, I created a piece of digital art that I’m pretty pleased with, so I’m sharing it here.

That’s today’s update. I’m heading back into the writing swamp. I hope to write to you tomorrow, but if I don’t, it’s because I’m struggling in the word mines. Even if you don’t see me, I’m waving to you with my prose shovel. Carry on! Carry on!

Be well, friends!
