Today, I’m steering you to another writer friend with a great piece of flash fiction. This story is called Haunted Mansions Are Never Wheelchair Accessible by Justin Siebert. It’s a great story and I think you will like it. It has an engaging and unusual protagonist and a thought-provoking ending. The link takes you to a place you can read it for free.
Today we hiked with backpacks in preparation for our future backpacking trip and made plans for what to pack for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Steve’s pack is new and it is a marvel of engineering. It is the Gregory Baltoro 65, which fits him perfectly and can carry a fair amount of gear. It’s different to pack for a trip without using GORP, which has always been one of my favorite parts of backpacking. Most of the things that delight me are connected with food (usually unhealthy food) and I am trying hard to break that association.
I worked on the short story but didn’t get much done. It is often that way after long hikes. My brain is as tired as my body. Obviously the best way to deal with this problem is to write before I hike. Lesson learned.
