I went to Bill’s Novel Writing Class today. It’s really quite good. Today he covered story structure, so that wasn’t quite as new to me. Though he said one thing that struck me. The inciting incident is something that happens to your character. We also did two five-minute sprints, which gave me the basic words I need to maintain my streak on 4theWords. Thank god for that since today was otherwise a major time suck with a flooded bathroom and other home problems.
One thing that Bill’s workshops always kindle in me is a hunger to move faster with my primary novel. I’m not going to make any promises of high word count days in a giant streak, but I am going to try to get the first draft completed before November ends. I will be clearing out social obligations to do so.
