Writing in Public – Day 18

I finished chapter 2 of my primary novel and I’m pretty pleased with it. This chapter was previously written from the viewpoint of Rueben’s wife, who I later decided wouldn’t be a viewpoint character. Then it was written from Rueben’s perspective. That still didn’t work because the person who had the most to gain or lose was Tzipporah. Now it has been rewritten from Tzipporah’s perspective. I’ve started revising the third chapter, which is mostly adding material to it.

I’ve volunteered to host a few NaNoWriMo sessions each week at the Panera Bread near me. These will start at 10 am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. This fills an important niche locally. Most NaNoWriMo write-ins happen on weeknights or weekends and there are people for whom that is impossible. I look forward to the camaraderie.

We hiked over difficult ground with thirty pound packs the day after I got my flu shot. I ache all over and I don’t know where flu shot aches leave off and hiking aches begin. The important thing is that it got done. I am slowly, ever so slowly, improving. This time I was able to write a small amount after the hike, but I’m glad that I did the majority of the writing before I left to hike.
