Written Confessions Day 24

Tomorrow is the Thursday night meeting of the Memphis Writers and I worked on the homework for the meeting and for Saturday’s meeting and I reviewed the chapters we are workshopping. I also worked on my novel. I’m stuck at the end of chapter three for a cool naval maneuver, so Steve will read through the first three chapters and make a recommendation. Chapters four and five are good enough to move forward. Chapter six needs about 2000 more words and that is where I will focus once this mental fog lifts enough to allow me to make new scenes.

I am going to the Superstars Writing Seminar in February, 2019 and I’m both excited and seriously intimidated to have the opportunity to hobnob with so many amazing people. The ability to learn and meet people should be extraordinary. But here’s the deal, I need to have this book done by the time I go. I don’t want to be one of those people who goes to writing events but never finishes a book. Also, what kind of career help or advice can anyone give me until I have the novel done? I suppose that they could tell me, “Finish the novel” but I already know that.

NaNoWriMo starts on November 1 and I expect to win. I expect to add at least 50,000 words to my novel by November 30. I would prefer to add 60,000 words. That would set me up to revise the novel through December and January.

Today marks three weeks eating healthfully and it feels natural. Friday night we will celebrate my birthday and I’ve picked out three truffles for the celebration. Other than that I will continue eating whole food, plant-based foods. It will be interesting to see how well I handle chocolate treats again. I’m both looking forward to it and fearing that I will uncontrollably eat the entire box of truffles, perhaps in the dead of night. This is probably how vampires got their start: unrequited chocolate cravings leading them to the hard stuff.
